ugh i had a friend who constantly canceled on me or tried to change our plans so they could fit in plans for other friends. safe to say i dropped them

I’ve kinda stopped asking my friends to pay me back for group dinners and stuff (esp with friends who don’t have full time jobs) cause of the transactional expectation that’s been developing in society. Like I can afford to cover your $20 the once in a blue moon that we go out. It’s not inconvenient and I’m poor not broke.

I was raised by a family that kept score of all the times they would help each other and then use that as weapons of manipulation and tell you that you “owed” them for any time they helped you or were nice to you. It makes you very wary of other people being nice or doing nice things for you 😭 I am going to therapy for it, but I have also have had previous friends use and abuse me because of this too
