![What is it that calls the first snowdrop to rise? What ancient whisper stirs beneath the loam, urging this fragile blade of white to defy the blackened husk of winter? Long before the birds dare return, before the sun finds its strength, the ghiocei emerge—pale ghosts slipping through the ruins of frost, pushing aside the rot of the old world with a quiet, relentless hunger for light. The old ones say that when the world was young, winter reigned eternal, and no flower dared to bloom. But a lone spirit, tired of the lifeless hush, cupped a handful of snow and breathed upon it. Where her breath touched, a single bloom unfurled—white as the cold it had defied, yet warm with the promise of things yet to come. Enraged, winter tried to smother it, but the flower did not yield. It bowed under the weight of ice but never broke, its roots curling deeper into the dark, knowing something the frost did not: no season lasts forever. And so, every year, the ghiocei return, pushing through decay, unafraid of the brittle grasp of dying cold. They do not wait for perfect days. They do not ask permission.
