I had a similar issue & Cannon said these type of issues can’t be repaired, usually they have to replace the entire camera. Canon does repairs but for this model, they will send you a whole new one for a fee. I also ended up getting insurance coverage through my renters insurance (Value Personal Property coverage) it’s less than $7 a month and covers the full value of the camera! So they’ll replace it free if anything happens.

Yup having the insurance is very important I had the same problem I was at the beach and some water got in the lens. I sent it to canon and they fix it for me. So guys make sure you add that insurance
