The music group “Burqa”, known for their famous song “Blue Burqa Group”. This is one of the strangest and most fascinating stories in the world of Afghan music. The group was founded in 2002 in Kabul, Afghanistan, just after the fall of the Taliban’s first regime. The band consisted of three young Afghan women who played rock music. At that time in Afghanistan, despite the defeat of the Taliban, society was still highly radical, and women’s music was considered a “crime and shame.” Therefore, the three girls decided that all members of the band would wear full blue burqas. They never revealed their faces or their real names under any circumstances. Their goal was to protect their lives from extremist groups and even from their own families.
