idk about all of the stores but i work at a marshall’s and we resend all the clearance and unsold things to corporate and they donate it the only reason we throw things away is if it doesn’t work or if they’res a hygiene issue with it

As someone who works in retail, when we have to get rid of an item we have to go based off of the brand and their preferred method of disposal, some stuff gets donate and others have to be tossed. They deface because it’s company policy & can get in trouble if they don’t. I hope that clears some things up.
