Shanti Reacts! 👑 Part 2 - Asian Championships 2023 100m Final After Double Gold at the Southeast Asian Games in May (which included a 22.69s National and Championship Record in the 200m), Shanti spent her June in Europe. In Rehlingen, Germany, she lowered her 100m National Record to 11.26s - the fastest century sprint ever ran by a Southeast Asian woman. July brought with it the Asian Athletics Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand. The pressure and expectations were as high as it’s ever been on our Sprint Queen. But she delivered in stunning fashion. In one of the best executed races of her career, it only took Shanti 11.20s to became Singapore’s first ever Asian Championships Gold medallist, setting another National Record in the 100m. The sprint double was sealed two days later in the 200m Final, with a new Championship Record of 22.70s. ————————————————————————————————————————— 2023 was a phenomenal year for Shanti Pereira. Our Sprint Queen took her National Records to a whole new realm, and redefined what we once considered possible for a Singaporean athlete in our sport. SEA Games and Asian Championships Double Gold Medallist, World Championships Semi-Finalist, Asian Games Champion. The plaudits were endless, and the moments were eternal. In this series, Shanti reminisces about her favorite moments from her incredible year. @Shanti Pereira #sgathletics #trackandfield #teamsingapore #shantipereira #fyp #fypsg #sprinter #track #athletics
