@thegreatcakecrusader: Situated at the top of the hill on main street in Haworth, sits this charming 16th century coaching inn...The Black Bull! In September 1782, the pub became the location for the Seat of the Lodge of the Three Graces, the freemasons met there until July 1806 and then they moved to Lodge Street! It is here that Branwell Brontè, who was also a freemason spent many alcoholic fuelled nights, he used to sit by the fire on his very own masonic chair. Many nights Branwell more than drunk his fill and someone was sent for from the nearby Parsonage to help him home. However, Branwell had other ideas and when he realised that someone was on their way to help him home, he used to escape through the pub window. You can see Branwell's chair on the top of the landing in the pub and it is said that Branwell still visits the pub...He has been seen on the stairs by the chair and by the fireplace! I did not see him but l went up to see his chair and it did feel a little like an intrusion...So l went back to the bar and rised a glass to Branwell, l think that he might of appreciated that!♥️
