It pains me how most people just view streetwear as a “phase” and their style and outfits are terrible. Then whenever they switch to a different style/ more tailored look and they think all of a sudden they “grew up” and they think their outfits are suddenly better. Whole time their style is still terrible because they’re not really into fashion and the terrible style is just a reflection of themselves. Streetwear in its self imo will show you how much someone truly cares for the art and how they dress. It will show you who is just doing it nd being fugazi wit it an who is truly in the scene living it and creating art out of their life wit it. It’s just more gentrification in the art of fashion. It also leads to bigger problems that affect black and brown communities an example being respectability politics.
