However, instead of a simple villain, he finds a young man deeply trapped by the toxic masculinity of his abusive father, while also serving as the primary caregiver for his elderly grandmother.  Rather than delivering a cliché message solely about American gun culture, the script deliberately dissects the universal ache of teenage disconnection.
