Therapist here. It’s a childhood wound. At some point in your childhood you felt emotionally abandoned so when you didn’t receive. You have to heal the root cause of it internally by rewiring your core beliefs. Highly recommend reading Healing Isn’t Pretty by Mira Hartson, it's a wonderful book.

I did think that this was possible, but you are doing therapy wrong. Your therapist wants to reframe your negative experience into something positive, it’s not important if that is true
