Surviving summer grocery costs when kids are home all day can be challenging! So I wanted to share a few practical things I’m doing to save my family money this summer  1) I like to buy affordable bulk snacks from Dollar Tree, pre-portion them into Ziploc bags, and keep a similar bin in the fridge with easy grab-and-go foods like fruit, yogurt, and cheese sticks. These pre-portioned snacks will help snacks last longer, cut down on waste, and give kids easy options without over spending. 2) We’re repeating the same dinner menu every week. Taco night, pasta night, breakfast for dinner, pizza, hot dogs, etc. This will mean less decision fatigue, easier meals that use affordable ingredients, and will make grocery shopping more predictable.  3) I’ll be preparing things ahead of time to save future me. Ready-to-eat sandwiches, pre-cut watermelon, and frozen popsicles to help us avoid convenience food and last-minute takeout during busy afternoons. And if your family receives SNAP benefits, it’s worth checking to see if you qualify for Summer EBT/Sun Bucks! The free @Propel is really helpful because they’ve built a full Summer EBT hub with real-time Sun Bucks updates, eligibility information, state-by-state details, benefit explanations, and practical tips for families trying to stretch groceries while kids are home for summer break. It’s an incredible resource if you’re trying to figure out whether your family qualifies, when benefits may arrive, or just looking for extra ways to make groceries last through the summer.
