Not curtains related- but pick out baby books together and have her write little notes in them to read with your baby as they get older! When they outgrow the books, you could always take that page out and put them all in a frame!

For me the color is also off! Is more like an earthy cream while the walls are yellowish/sunny. I would go for a ivory color of blackout.

Lighter and a smooth track instead of a rod would be ideal! I don’t think you need 2 curtains per section either if the curtain sheets are wide enough to close. It’ll help make it look less bulky!

I like what your dad had, and you can make it almost like a bracket to hold the curtain rod and have an arched hook on the end that you can hang a pretty wind chime or dimmable chandelier or something that reminds you of your mom, like butterflies or whatever it is that is special.

You could get double curtain rods and then the put them on the front rod so you can slide them all the way over!

You can use drywall anchors! We use them for our curtains and they have pottery barn heavy duty blackouts! They are perfect and you don’t have to use studs!

In some areas or all, do a double curtain rod, we did one in our room and I love the filtered light and layered look! Always stick with light curtains!

You don’t have to put it into a stud if you use heavy duty drywall screws for the support piece for the beam. If you put 2 panels on each side of the middle support piece then you’ll be able to slide both sides over completely. You’ll have to upgrade to heavy duty drywall screws.

I would for sure go lighter on the curtain color, and add a bracket to the center and ends then you can open them completely we have a huge window and ours are hung with a center bracket and they are fine… also I know it’d be another expense but just and idea do a double rod with light filtering curtains and then black out so sometimes it’s not so harsh and bright for those early mornings..
