@ladyspinedoc: Case Study 235 | The Headache That Wouldn’t Stop Most people assume that if a headache is getting worse, they need stronger medication. This patient did everything he thought he was supposed to do. He treated the pain, followed medical advice, and reached for relief when the headaches became more frequent. Instead, the headaches took over his life. His scans were normal. His exam was normal. But his headache wasn’t. Can you identify the diagnosis? Drop your answer below ⬇️ #sundaycasestudy #ladyspinedoc #casestudy235 #migraineawarenessmonth
It sucks though bc our specialists will tell us to try and treat migraines/headaches as soon as we can. I find it hard to do this bc I’m so fearful of rebound migraines from medication overuse.

I would examine TMJ, wear & tear pattern on teeth, pain on muscles of mastication; airway and tongue positioning on CBCT. This could be the result of TMJ misalignment. We see patients presenting with those symptoms on a daily basis.

Doug :
hmmmm so could be a few things...if it continues to day 90, since the day is remembered it could be New Daily Persistent Headache.
If the pain is side-locked, could try indomethacin to rule out hemicrania continua.
The other option would be medication overuse headache (rebound headache).

Over medicated. Stop all it’s making it worse. Take a couple Benadryl, grab some ice and sleep it off for a couple days. Then reevaluate with some maintenance medication with a specialist.
