My father grew up on a sugar cane farm where his family made molasses. We grew up with blackstrap molasses always in our home. It's in my pantry now. I like it on pancakes and cornbread. It's pretty much an acquired taste, but it always reminds me of my dear father who was an excellent athlete and make it to age 96. Some of his family members lived into their 100's.

Is there a way to consume it besides grinding it and making your own bread? I’m not much of a bread maker.

In USA I buy I lb bags of organic sprouted sorghum. I dry roast it in a pan till fragrant. When cool, I grind it to a flour. I don’t like it too fine. I cook 45 g for 20 minutes stirring at about 95C (200F) in 240ml of water . I eat it with a pad of butter, a little milk a little sugar……in Southern Africa it was called Maltabella porridge, they used the purple one. I can only buy the white one here. I had it this morning for breakfast. I love it.

My Grandmother's family had 2 sorghum stone mills and supported the family selling it. No sickness, no miscarriages. My Grandmother was the 7th child. No miscarriage no deaths. All lived into their 80s and 90s. I never remember my Grandmother being sick.

sorghum will grow and thrive where almost nothing else will. it is a total nuisance but should be harvested and used for it's benefits
