@overachieving_paraplegic: I have lots of thoughts that go through my mind when I see people who knew me before my injury: were they expecting to see me in a wheelchair? Do they know what happened? Are they wondering what happened to me? Does it look like I’m struggling getting around? Mostly, I get in my own head with negative perceptions of what they might possibly be thinking of me now. This clearly comes from my own insecurities versus interactions I have had. People are typically welcoming and encouraging and supportive or just curious. So it’s definitely social anxiety that I need to work through, and to be honest, I had anxiety like this prior to my spinal cord injury. #spinalcordinjury #wheelchairlife #paraplegic #socialanxiety
Yes! I went back to my hometown after a year to volunteer. She asked me “what are you doing in this?” I thought she was asking about the volunteering; she meant the wheelchair 🤣🤦🏻♀️
