🌙✨ These are the main barriers I see when people are trying to learn headstand (1) kicking up - the to need to kick up typically stems from too great a distance between hands and feet. To enter headstand without kicking up, make sure to stack your hips directly above your shoulders. If you’re still unable to lift your lower leg, then it is likely you’re missing foundational hip flexor and core strength. You can always place your foot on a block to make it a bit more accessible. (2) collapsing in the shoulders - this is something that’s super important to avoid in headstand as too much pressure on the cervical spine can cause serious injuries. Make sure you are actively pushing the ground away so much so that your head could even lift off the ground. It’s also critical to have your elbows right below your shoulders, avoiding too wide a base in the forearms.
