@bootyandbrains0: You can take preventable action against Alzheimer’s TODAY. You don’t have to overhaul your life. You can (and should) start with very small steps. You know what small steps build? A GODDAMN STAIRCASE TO METABOLIC HEALTH. I’m a big fan of taking small action, building on that and creating huge results from there. The point here is to START. And when we start with something that doesn’t suck that much? We don’t mind continuing, because it’s doesn’t suck too much. Squats don’t suck (too much). Commit to this one habit and then check-in with yourself around how good it feels to decide to stick with something and we build from there. #alzheimersprevention #brainhealth #mindset #selflove #bloodsugarbalance

My father died of early on set alzheimer's 14 years ago. I'm now caregiving for my mother who was diagnosed three years ago.
Nothing describes the sheer terror I feel when I forget where I set my keys down and wonder if this is the beginning.

I did 30 squats after watching this. My dogs have apparently never seen squatting before, so one started barking at me and the other (downstairs) started howling bc the other was barking. So I did thirty squats while my dogs terrorised me and the neighbourhood.
Still gonna do it

Bouncing/jumping and doing calf raises will work too! But squats are good for SO many reasons as we get older.

A trainer at the gym suggested for me to hold onto a pole or doorway while doing squats to help my knees and hips.

Also, calf raises after a meal. You can even do them at your desk, while on a virtual meeting.

I'm doomed. I've got PCOS and insulin resistance. Been trying to sort it for 10 years and got nowhere. I don't squat but I do walk miles everyday.

You can also go for a short walk right after you eat no? Some of us can’t do squats due to injury

My mom died a few months ago with both, Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia. She was a brittle diabetic, going in and out of DKA. My dad passed many years ago when I was 19… from complications of diabetes. Essentially, diabetes was the main contributing factor in my mom too. Small changes can make a big difference.

Also get your hearing and eyes tested annually! Getting your hearing loss treated has been shown to be a great help with brain health!
