I have never understood why teachers are blamed for teaching ‘useless’ skills and knowledge- when teachers are mandated to follow the specific curriculum required by the state government that the public elected.

I agree. Homeschooling is a much more difficult job to do than people realize. The beauty of sending kids to school (beyond the teacher) is the exposure of students to the varying beliefs of others. That helps people learn how to interact with others and shows how other people live and think.

nah 12 is a good amount of grades. some subjects should be taught. Who needs Gym, chior, band unless you just want to do them for fun. you shouldn't be forced to Music or band, it should be after grade10 only a few classes are needed. and fhe rest are voluntary

In South America, they start mandatory school at k4 and go through 11th grade. For their 12th grade they are required to go to a trade college. I think this is a great idea.

missed the mark a little bit It seems. a mass majority of students are taught by packets now. you seem to have glazed over the previous comment. I stated that not all kids learn the same way. teachers don't have the time to prioritize how each individual kid learns not put in the effort. speaking from my experience I hated school because I didn't learn like everyone else. I was packet taught by the majority of my teachers excluding "math and shop teachers". I'm a self taught weld engineer for a billionaire dollar corporation now. not flexing, not belittling what teachers do. I still talk to the teachers that took the time to explain things in a way that works for all of their students. I'm saying that a mass majority of teachers especially new ones that I've encounter during school visits and job fairs do not have the vigor or passion as you so elegantly put it earlier.
