I find it interesting that you don’t have any answers for THIS story but still found it worth reporting on but didn’t think the Dialogue leak was as important, despite having the same amount of information.

Go to your local post office and fill out their form located at the front counter. The clerk will look over the papers and charge you. Bring birth certificate and marriage license and a check or cash to pay.

I went to the library, made an appointment. They helped me fill up the forms, and I got it 2 weeks later by mail

what exactly is the concern here lol? passports.gov redirects to travel.state.gov which has its cert issued to the us department of state. probably just some technical issue behind the scenes that passports.gov was being displayed as it was

this feels kind of like paranoia they could have just updated and streamlined the website instead of having multiple government websites about travel. but hey let's wait a few months and see what happens

As someone who does websites, whoever owns passports.gov can redirect their domain to any other domain on the internet, so it doesn’t mean they have control of the state departments website.

Our information is already everywhere, I’d much rather do it online then go in person and waste my time, gas, and energy

I just renewed mine and firat went to courthouse and they wouldn't renew in person. only option for me was to print paperwork out from online and take everything to post office. They wouldn't do a renewal in person. only if under 16 or 1st time are allowed in person is what I was told

I renewed mine online via the travel.state.gov just weeks ago. There was a warning box up top of the site stating to NOT use any other sites to renew your passport. Anyways, already got my passport back, and compared to the rest of my family’s —it’s identical.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I just checked travel.state.gov and it gave me steps to apply for a passport

The state department website pushes online passport renewals & applications. At least in my case, where I have not renewed in a long time. They are pushing me to fill out forms online, even tho I have to take it to an acceptance agency in person. It's very strange.
