That is called a California cut. It keeps the nails at least 6 inches out of the valley. She should check all instructions before saying something. They have been doing that for over 30 years.

Cali valley is the go to anywhere with warm climate and tons of rain keeps the nails further from the valley while not leave any of the shingle in nailed. No starter on the eves though that’s just wild

Valley was definitely fine. Grace ice and water is garbage.kick out flashing is building code in my state.

How many roofs have installed? I'm bettingO!.... number 1 that valley called the California cut.. been Roofing for over 30 years. Never a problem with that type of Valley.
