Fun fact not only are the highest and lowest points of the contiguous US both in California (mt Whitney and badwater basin), but they’re less than 100 miles apart. On a nearby mountain range, you can see mt Whitney on one side and bad water basin on the other at the same viewpoint

did this hike at 17 with a girl scout group. we made it a 63 mile weeklong trip by starting further down the jmt and coming up the backside of the mountain. still a highpoint in my life and some of the most awe inspiring views I've ever seen
