16+ years as a CPhT and can tell you the techs are not "in charge" but we do run the show. One thing I stopped doing is apologizing for anything beyond my control. 100% not on me to apologize for.

Your team can ABSOLUTELY make or break a pharmacy. When there is favoritism and/or working with a team that gives all of the work to its high performers, it leads to burn out and resentment. Especially when your concerns fall on deaf ears even as lead tech.

Spot on! I loved the work of pharmacy, but people make it awful and so stressful. I will never work in pharmacy again, and I did it for 9 years. We interact with the customers, process the prescriptions, troubleshooter insurance issues, count out the pills and label the bottle. Obviously the pharmacist has the most knowledge about interactions and such, but the techs do everything

Being a tech made me insane, I capped out at my hospital after 8 YEARS, that meant no more advancement, no more pay raises…..I left and went into revenue cycle and make triple my pharmacy tech salary as a hospital analyst, I encourage other techs to use your skills elsewhere

A pharmacy does not run without good techs. If you are good to your techs your techs are good to you. I am a full believer you need to be a technician before you become a pharmacist. It will humble you and give you a better perspective as their leader on their needs

I was a pharmacy tech for 7 years and worked to the bone for next to nothing pay. wages need to change. it's insane how little pharmacy staff get paid.

I feel like retail is more customer service than clinical pharmacy. You can’t compare retail to inpatient I’ve been told. Can inpatient techs tell me about the experience? It seems pharmacy is only bad when it’s owned by a corporation
