this can happen to any diesel engine no matter if its on a tractor or a pickup truck to a semi truck. when the turbo leaks oil into the engine it causes the engine to do this. its called a runaway engine. only way to stop it is to fill the breather up with rags or something to cut the air flow off.

you had an oil leak in your turbo...force fed your deisel oil for fuel....if this ever happens you wanna plug the intake with a shirt, rag, whatever you have...Deisel run away

Highest gear, both brakes hard, dump the clutch. Or hop off and close the fuel shut off. Or stuff your shirt into the air intake. Heck, shoot a fire extinguisher into it... Anything is better than standing there watching it self destruct.

either used road fuel and the injector stuck open or somebody changed the oil and didn't drain both sides of the oil pan. either way that engine is toast

a fuel shutoff won't help when it is running on motor oil, you have to block off the air.
