My pitch to try and convince people to read is: Think Hunger Games meets Hitchhiker's Guide - earth is destroyed with survivors forced to fight in the "dungeon" which is like an intergalactic gladiator death show. It's absurd humor with gratuitous violence, and your favorite character will either be a talking cat named Princess Donut or a possessed sex doll head. It's worked on two friends so far!

Love the book. It’s such a strong deconstruction of power dynamics, colonization, cultural appropriation, and reality tv as a whole. I could go on for hours like a man with a cork board full of red string on how all the themes fit together

Dungeon Crawler Carl is the greatest series I have ever read in my life. I do not say that lightly. It literally breathes so much love into my every day life. I’m on book 6 and any free time I have in a day goes into these books.

I have liked the series, and can’t wait for the next books, but I just finished parade of horribles, and it has gotten a bit too convoluted for me. Too many characters and details to keep track of. I find myself just sort of zoning out through the battles/races and figure out how Carl and Donut made out when it’s over. 🫠
