you also forgot having to don PPE constantly because half of your patients are on some sort precautions

Nurses days are just 1 distraction after another, multitasking all day. It's so stressful and exhausting. 7 pts was standard on my tele unit. now Outpatient cardiac CM.

I have so much respect for med/surg nurses. I did it for 2 weeks and ran for the hills. Everyone is a high fall risk, AMS and has 30+ morning meds.

This is why I need silence & ZERO decision making after my shift. I don’t know what I want to eat. I don’t know what I want to watch. What I do know is that I’d like to be left alone in my bed

As soon as I walked on the floor I would have to start running. Every single shift. People‘s needs are constant they don’t stop. It was so exhausting.

If no one has told you lately, Thank You! I hope you know that you (not the Dr) are the most important and appreciated person when we are hospitalized. You are the one who gets us better each day, and you are kind face that we look to for hope and compassion. Again, Thank You!🙏

Some of these things should have been addressed by the night shift nurses …pain meds, water, blood glucose 😑

What non nurses don’t understand is that was like 10% of what actually occurred from 645-1030 lol I’m sure their was critical labs, families wanting updates, actual assessments on pts, rechecking vitals, pts needing to be cleaned, drs to call. Checklists for procedures etc etc etc. sooooo much to get done. Sometimes it feels impossible

The constant distractions in our work is maddening I’m APRN in outpatient internal medicine— epic inbaskets, epic instant chats, haiku phone calls from hospital staff
