Have you been told your dizziness is coming from your neck, but it won't go away no matter what you do? If you’ve been told your dizziness is coming from your neck, but stretches, releases, and massages never seem to work, you’re probably missing this one critical piece. The problem isn’t just the neck… it’s that your nervous system is actively fighting against you. When your neck feels unstable or irritated, your brain goes into “protection mode.” It tightens everything up to keep the area safe, even if that tension is what’s causing your dizziness. So when you try to stretch, release, or massage the area, the nervous system interprets it as a threat and tightens it right back up. That’s why relief never lasts longer than a few minutes. Here’s the trick: you can actually reprogram the nervous system by turning on the right muscles first, then teaching it that movement is safe again. In this video, I’ll show you exactly how. 👉 First, we activate the muscles on the front of your neck that pull your head forward and down. When those turn on, the tight muscles in the back of your neck automatically have to relax (otherwise they’d be in a tug-of-war). As you look down, gently resist with your hands, hold, and repeat. Make sure that motion comes from the upper neck, not the lower. 👉 Next, we’ll fatigue the overactive muscles in the back of the neck. When they’re tired, your nervous system’s “guard” comes down, allowing for a much deeper stretch and release. Gently resist your head moving back and up using your hand, hold that contraction, then follow with a deep stretch. Repeat the cycle: contract, then stretch. These two strategies help you “trick” the nervous system into letting go. That means less dizziness, better neck mobility, and that calm, grounded feeling you’ve been trying to get back. Try this out daily and see how your body responds! #dizzinessrelief #neckpainrelief #vertigoexercises #vestibularrehab #chronicdizziness
