Not every dish comes out perfect… and that’s kind of the point 🤍 This t’beet is one of those recipes that carries memories, tradition, and so much love from my grandmother’s kitchen. I may have left it on the stove just a little too long, but the flavor? Still absolutely incredible. Comforting, rich, and a true one-pot Shabbat favorite. This is the kind of meal that brings everyone to the table. Ingredients For the chicken: • 5 bone-in chicken thighs (or any pieces you like) • 1 tbsp paprika • 1½–2 tbsp salt (total) • 1 tsp black pepper • 1 tsp turmeric • ¼ cup olive oil For the rice: • 3 cups basmati rice, washed • 1½ tsp cardamom powder • 1½ tsp baharat spice • ⅓ cup tomato paste • 1 large onion, cut into chunks • 2 ripe tomatoes, grated • 6 cups water Instructions 1. In the same pot you’ll cook everything in, add the chicken and all the chicken spices. Drizzle with olive oil and rub well. 2. Place on medium heat and brown the chicken on both sides. Remove and set aside. 3. In the same pot, add the onions and sauté for about 5 minutes. 4. Add grated tomatoes and tomato paste, mix well, then add the baharat and cardamom. Taste and adjust salt if needed. 5. Add the washed and drained rice and mix everything together. 6. Place the chicken back on top and pour in 6 cups of water. 7. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 1 hour. Optional but highly recommended: flip it over for that crispy bottom layer everyone loves. Serve with a fresh salad and enjoy for Shabbat or any day of the week 🤍 #sivanskitchen #onepot #rice #chicken #easy
