My ex and I told our children that divorce doesn’t define our family. Sure, it causes a major rift, but mommy and daddy’s love for you stays intact. We don’t enforce a schedule, well, we do enforce the same routines but like, if my son is sad and wants to be with his mom on my night? Baby, if it makes you happy ask your mom. She left me in a pretty bad place, but that’s what unhealthy relationships can do. That isn’t the babies fault. I want to show them healthy. It sucks, sure. She looks at me like I’m so old friend, but seeing the kids smile? I can take some heartache for that investment.

As someone who does parallel co-parenting, I’m not sitting with their father. In proximity, sure. I’m also not reminding him about things he’s already been informed of and sent a schedule for either. I make sure to let him and grandparents know so it’s never an unknown. He’s an adult. If he misses, that’s on him.

It's sounds like you have a mature co parent to co parent with. Unfortunately alot of people dont have that which makes some of the stuff you get to do sound unrealistic for others.

I read this and smiled the whole way through. Your kids are really lucky to have mature parents that put them first 🤍

This is exactly how co-parenting should be! Putting those kids first 100% of the time.

I do most of these but not the reminding him of stuff. I'm not his secretary any more. And I'll always have my son back but he doesn't do the same.

I find my people. I'm so happy you exist along side me in the already hard life, just making things easier by just being a parent first.

Father of my two stays with us every two weeks when he comes to visit (we live 4 hours away from him) and me and my husband will go out for the evening as much as possible so he can actual spend time with just them and then all of us do loads aswel! Best way x

This is the relationship that I am working towards with my ex. We get along so well, but it’s so hard when they move on and start dating someone and you feel like you are being replaced.

There's not 1 thing that you mentioned that I don't agree with!! That's pretty much the same way my ex and I raised our boys, and they thank me all the time for the way they were raised!! Even now the boys are adults, my ex and I still get along because we will always have our children together.

We co parent so hard that while my daughter and I were on vacation for an MGK concert he told me to call him when a certain song came on so he could watch it with us 🥰

This would be ideal if I didn’t have to parallel parent. Some things we can do as a united front but other things I just have to focus on the kids and I and let go and let God.

me and my daughters mum are exactly the same. We were together forx10 years and had our daughter together for 6 years.
the last 6 years we have navigated things together. even had family holidays together.
its more about the kids than adults.

slide 8 is the change in perspective I need. I'm not divorced but my husband is bad at remembering things and I get really frustrated having to remind him, but he doesn't hold my weaknesses against me (like the fact that I can't cook anything at all)
