@rev.sydney.finn: Replying to @seventeen_pocas as always I’m not a therapist, just speaking from my personal recovery #datingadvice #datingadviceforwomen #relationshipadviceforwomen #relationshipadvice #avoidantattachmentstyle
as a previous avoidant, I avoided dating at all until I got my shit together lol, like idk why people don't understand that's an option

I wish I could do this. I genuinely lose sleep and start feeling unwell when I don’t cut off the person or immediately ended.

For me the more I convince myself to stay the worse it gets to the point I have to get away.

Major ice queen here. I am now in a successful relationship for 6 months because of your videos. I am working on everything still and just spiralled last night because of some silence. Pushed myself to call (which is hard for me to do) and everything was perfectly normal. Still learning I have to put in the same effort as him and not just rely on him to do it all. He seemed so happy I called and we kept talking about all our future plans. Working on saying the “I love you” first since I also only say it back to him after he says it, and I know that also means something to him. Thank you for all you’ve done for me!

I love how the answer to both anxious and avoidant attachment styles is to regulate your nervous system before doing anything

Very very true!! I think the most difficult part is walking that fine line between “am I just being avoidant” or “is this genuinely shitty behavior and I should walk away?” Bc I’ve been in relationships where I got scared and threw in the towel too early, but I’ve also been in relationships where I tolerated FARRRR too much nonsense bc I kept gaslighting myself into believing I just needed to “try harder.” I think this is really solid advice for those first few tingles… but also, trust yourself to know when it is truly a bridge too far and the relationship is actually unhealthy, and be willing to pull the plug when it’s time — for your sake and theirs.

For real I just ignore my thoughts LMAO. I'm like "Ok edgy, chill out, they actually love you and won't secretly betray you and abandon you."
