No, we should be focused on making it more affordable not lessening the amount of knowledge you can get.

Universities are not a trade school. the whole point is to convey a solid cross-discipline foundation, as well as your chosen major.

something ai is incapable of doing is connecting ideas from different disciplines like biology to marketing so yes being well rounded matters it makes us human and more higherable

This is narrow minded thinking. It’s good to have those other classes because those are the fundamentals of education. They might not be your traditional version of that classes but it makes you think about the world as a whole and not just as it exists according to your major.

If you want direct career training, do vocational school. College is about getting a broad education and experience.

idk, I'd rather have the professionals providing medical care, planning infrastructure, and working in the hard sciences to have dabbled in human ethics, understanding, and expression... but maybe that's just me😅 (and vice versa ofc)

being "well rounded" isn't just for academics, being knowledgeable in many subjects also helps with critical thinking, literacy, and ethical frameworks. professionals should go through philosophy and history classes because it's important for them to understand the people they serve 🤷♀️

Uhhh no horrible take. Ethics, philosophy, basic sciences are needed. You should be well rounded individual and going to university should mean you have that curiosity about the world and want to learn as much as possible even if it’s not for your degree.

Instead make those classes less expensive and less rigorous to bring enjoyment to general knowledge instead of adding stress to already stressful majors

STEM needs humanities. I’m a bachelors of science with technically a double minor in psychology and political sciences. It absolutely made me a more critical thinker and more open minded. Which in turn makes me a better physician.
