Officer Being Attacked On TV Show Ends Knox County Police Participation with “On Patrol Live” (WBIR) KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that it is ending its participation with On Patrol: Live. The sheriff's office said the experience was a "tremendous opportunity" for the agency and community to see the work deputies do every day. "We are grateful to the On Patrol: Live team, our viewers across the country, and especially the citizens of Knox County for their continued support," KCSO wrote on social media. "Thank you for allowing us to share a glimpse into the commitment and sacrifice of the men and women who proudly serve this community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year." KCSO started being featured on the show in late 2024. The show follows a handful of law enforcement agencies around the country. It is hosted and executive-produced by Dan Abrams. Abrams and a panel of experts provides minute-by-minute live analysis of police officers' interaction with the public. 10News requested the agreement between "On Patrol: Live" and KCSO in December. From Jan. 30, 2025, to Dec. 9, 2025, the Sheriff's Office had received $66,750. $49,294.41 was reimbursed for overtime for KCSO employees who reviewed footage. $17,455.59 went to the Employee Assistance Program, which is offered to those experiencing hardship. One of the most notable incidents on the show in Knox County occurred on June 21, 2025. Deputy Dalton Swanger spent days at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after being struck in the head by either a large rock or brick while responding to reports of gunshots near Stanley Road, the Knox County Sheriff's Office said. #OnPatrolLive
