@fazli.rahmat: WHY ARE THESE HOUSES LEFT UNTOUCHED ?!?! 🤯 While exploring Mountbatten Road, I stumbled upon something that genuinely left me scratching my head. A row of old heritage bungalows quietly sits on an enormous piece of land, surrounded by modern developments, luxury homes and one of Singapore’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Yet, despite the value of the land, these houses appear to have remained largely untouched for years. What fascinated me even more was the bungalow directly opposite at 760 Mountbatten Road. Built in the early 1900s, it forms part of Singapore’s Mountbatten Road Bungalow Conservation Area and was reportedly listed for more than S$60 million just a few years ago. While filming, I had the chance to speak to a friendly caretaker who shared that the house has been unoccupied for over a decade, and as far as he knows, there are currently no plans to redevelop it. I spent quite some time searching online, but surprisingly, there isn’t much documented about the history of these homes. So this time, I need your help. Got chance previous owner died and willed the houses into a trust with the rule for it not to be demolished or sold. Subsequent generations didn’t do as well and might not be able to financially upkeep the home.

i know some bungalows could be conserved. Could be those you mentioned. LKY home also conserved by law so maybe make it hard to redevelop site or sites into tall buildings

Only SLA, ICA & IRAS working together will have the answer. IRAS could check who is paying the annual property tax. ICA could check if the property tax payer is still a Singaporean and his/her whereabout, & SLA could check the property title owner name & particulars. The house is left vacant for pass 20 yrs, it may be a case of the owner has migrated or deceased and property passed onto children who may have migrated to. If u check BMSMA building owner are suppose to upkeep and maintain their property in good order, failing which BCA can issue an order to maintain the property.

Replying to @kata the moment we have all been waiting for 🥹 now will I shut up about Charlie Munger. Also before leaving a mean comment pls read below: 1. This took me 6+ years 2. I lived at home for most of that time (while it’s only recently it’s grown because of my income that’s a big factor) 3. Just because someone else has a certain amount it doesn’t take away from your own achievements, you can do anything you want in life 🤍 4. I sacrificed doing certain things that maybe other people may age have done like taking a gap year or going travelling - I would love to do this at some point but I wanted to focus on my career instead 5. I was never given any money from my parents and i don’t have a trust fund etc.
