@magicmoneytips: Why is a Junior ISA one of the best gifts you can give a child as a Parent? 💰🚀 A Junior ISA, often called a JISA, is a tax-efficient savings or investment account designed specifically for children. If you’re looking to help a child build wealth for the future, it could be one of the most powerful tools available. One of the biggest benefits of a Junior ISA is that any growth is completely free from UK income tax and capital gains tax. This means the money can grow over many years without tax reducing the returns. Parents, grandparents, family members and friends can all contribute to a Junior ISA, helping to build a substantial pot over time. Even small monthly contributions can make a significant difference thanks to the power of compound growth. Another major advantage is that the money is locked away until the child turns 18. While this may sound restrictive, it prevents withdrawals and allows the savings or investments more time to grow uninterrupted. A Junior ISA can be held as cash or invested in the stock market. For those with a long-term time horizon, investing can potentially provide higher returns, although investments can go down as well as up. When the child reaches age 16, they can take control of the account, and at age 18 it automatically becomes an adult ISA, giving them full access to the funds. Whether it’s for university, a first home deposit, driving lessons or simply giving them a financial head start, a Junior ISA can be a fantastic way to invest in a child’s future.
