I pre-booked Yr Wyddfa in advance... I managed it again. For the third time I ended up with the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to myself. This time it was at sunset. Wales’ highest mountain. One of the busiest summits in Snowdonia National Park. No crowds, no queue for the trig, just golden light and a very rare 5-10 minutes of complete calm. Proof that even on Wales', and arguably the UKs busiest mountain, quiet moments can still exist. If you’re planning on hiking Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), I’d definitely recommend going for sunset. It’s not one of the best sunset hikes in Snowdonia National Park. But you also avoid the brutal early alarm, you have a much better idea of what the weather is doing, and in my experience, you’ll usually meet far fewer people on the way up. A few quick tips: 🥾 Go midweek if possible 🌦️ Check the forecast throughout the day 🔦 Pack a head torch for the descent 🧥 Take warm layers, summits cool down fast 🌅 Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the light This was taken on a Wednesday 6th May. #snowdonia #Wales #snowdon #Hiking
