@hannah.jungle: The debate around the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act isn't just about home education. It's about a much bigger question: How much oversight should the state have over families who choose a different path? The Government says these measures are about safeguarding vulnerable children. That's an aim most people support. But others are asking whether creating registers, expanding data collection and increasing oversight of all home-educating families is a proportionate way to achieve that goal. History shows that powers introduced for one purpose often expand over time. That's why it's worth asking not just what a law does today, but what infrastructure it creates for tomorrow. Whatever your view on home education, this affects the relationship between parents, children and the state—and it's a conversation that deserves careful thought. I'd love to know where you stand.
Got nothing to do with safeguarding and everything to do with control.

I teach my kids that school is just somewhere to enjoy time with their friends. I know they don’t learn in school. They learn from me, school is just a hangout.

I started home ed a year ago with my 6 yr old daughter and it made such a big difference! She’s full of life! But I did receive a letter a few weeks ago about this safeguarding issue that’s coming into place. I knew straight away it was fishy! 😳
