I have two phones because my work pays for the second one. I'm on-call for a tech job. I'm not giving my work access to data, and you shouldn't either. Once my employer started mandating security on my phone and installing root level access I removed all work apps from my personal devices. It's also critical to separate your devices and accounts if you have creative works or personal projects so your company cannot claim them as their own.

From my perspective it just means that you’re bound by your job. Getting to choose how to spend your time is way more impressive than being obligated to your job and answering a dedicated phone for your job

Almost everyone in corporate has two phones one for work and one for personal. Businessmen/women always had that, sure it might be a status symbol that u have separate work from life but not specific to a generation and it’s definitely not new. Would be better to highlight the overconsumption angle rather than the obsession we have overanalyzing “status”
