i just assume the alternative builds are what the builders originally wanted but what marketing forced them to change so they worked the pieces into a new shape

They look great, but they’re pretty flimsy since they’re restricted to the original pieces. His Optimus Prime rebuild looked cool, but I found it a pain in the ass to build because of how flimsy some of it was. The Bumblebee rebuild was significantly more solid.
