There are other much harder plants to remove other than bamboo that are native to where these data centers are being set up, some of which are hard to remove because they’re endangered and protected

Yeah that never made sense to me. We hate data centers because they destroy ecosystems and make life worse for the community, so the response to that is to.... do something else that destroys ecosystems and makes life worse for communities????

Question, I have bamboo in my backyard and it’s been there for years before I was born at my grandma’s house and nothing has happened with it, It hasn’t grown in our walls It’s just stayed there.

Bamboo is phenomenal for the environment it’s in! Puts out more oxygen than trees the same size and sucks up more carbon, restores soil health!

i work in habitat restoration and invasive species removal. japanese knotweed is the closest to bamboo that i’ve removed (not in the same plant family, but very close in appearance and structure), and it’s actual hell trying to destroy it + restore the ecosystem that’s harmed by it. here’s a picture of some that underwent removal at my site (it’s all gone now, but it likely will grow back):

I feel the same way when people say data centers aren't fire proof. like how about actually go to the protests and be active in preventing it from happening, instead of wanting to do something that's going to cause even more harm to the surrounding environment that's already struggling from the displacement
