The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Police Commander, DSP Simon Boavo, has announced a personal cash reward of GH₵5,000 for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in the shooting of a Community Police Assistant at Dwakessiem near Dunkwa-on-Offin. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2026, left 27-year-old Emmanuel Agyapong hospitalized after he sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh following an alleged confrontation with occupants of a motorbike. According to police and eyewitness accounts, the situation escalated when a group of armed men allegedly returned to the scene and attacked the victim, before a pump-action gun was fired, striking him in the leg. The suspects reportedly fled immediately after the attack and are currently on the run. Mr. Agyapong was first treated at the Dunkwa-on-Offin Municipal Hospital before being referred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further specialized care. Speaking to Dunkwa TV’ Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko, DSP Simon Boavo appealed to the public to volunteer credible information to aid investigations, stressing that he would personally reward anyone whose information directly leads to the arrest of the suspects. He assured that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality. The Police Commander expressed sadness over the incident, revealing that the victim had successfully completed all required medical examinations and was awaiting the official date to begin police training. He described the shooting as unfortunate, noting that it had disrupted the young officer’s aspirations. Police say investigations are ongoing, while a manhunt has been launched to track down the suspects believed to have fled the scene through the Mfuom route.
