@ridewithpurpose_: Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing fathers out there (and to all of the single moms doing both roles). Today is about making memories. When I was a kid, my dad and I were sitting on the swings at my elementary school. A newspaper photographer happened to stop by and asked if we wanted our picture on the front page of the paper. At the time, it was just a fun moment. My dad was 44 years old. Now I’m 44 years old. Recently, we recreated that same photo, and as I looked at the two pictures side by side, it hit me harder than I expected. It feels like yesterday that I was that little kid sitting next to my dad on those swings. Time doesn’t slow down for any of us. Whether we like it or not, the days turn into years, and the years turn into decades. The question isn’t whether time will pass. The question is what we do with the time we’re given. Make the trip. Take the picture. Go to the ballgame. Walk the horse. Sit on the porch. Have the conversation. Make the memories. Because one day you’ll look back and realize those ordinary moments became the moments that mattered most. Happy Father’s Day.
