She had no obvious pregnancy symptoms no nausea, no breast tenderness, nothing suggestive. She first came in for a pelvic ultrasound scan before proceeding for infection screening and hormonal profile assessment. During the scan, everything appeared normal. Her uterus was well-formed, and the endometrial lining looked normal as expected. However, during careful examination, I noticed a well-defined thickened rim in the right adnexal region, with features suggestive of a gestational sac and a small embryonic structure. I asked her about her last menstrual period, and she confirmed she had missed her period for about two months. I further asked detailed questions based on what was seen on the scan, but she reported no symptoms, no abdominal pain, no bleeding, nothing unusual. At that point, I advised a serum pregnancy test (β-hCG). Her blood sample was taken, and the result came back strongly positive for pregnancy. With both ultrasound and laboratory findings, the diagnosis was consistent with ectopic pregnancy. She was referred immediately for further management and treatment at the hospital that same day. Two months later, she returned for a follow-up scan. At that time, it was noted that her right adnexal region (previously affected area) was no longer visible as before, following treatment. She went home emotional and understandably sad that day. Six months later, she came again for another scan, this time due to a missed period. And this time… the pregnancy was seen inside the uterus. She was overjoyed, and I was genuinely happy for her because of everything she had gone through.💃💃 📌 This is to encourage women who have experienced ectopic pregnancy: ✓ Having an ectopic pregnancy does NOT mean you cannot conceive again> ✓ Even after treatment or loss of one fallopian tube, natural conception is still possible. ✓ The remaining tube can still pick up an egg and support pregnancy. ✓ Many women go on to have successful intrauterine pregnancies after ectopic pregnancy. However, it is important to note: 📌 Having one ectopic pregnancy increases the risk of another. 📍 Early ultrasound in future pregnancies is very important. 📌 Early hospital visit after missed period helps confirm pregnancy location early. 💛 To every ectopic pregnancy survivor: your story is not the end. With proper care, many still go on to carry healthy pregnancies. Kindly share this post.... it may give hope to someone silently struggling. ❤️ #EctopicPregnancyAwareness #MaternalHealthMatters #WomenHealthEducation #PregnancyJourney #famseamedical
