@harvtonally: I've been looking for ways to maintain some income whilst working in the Film & TV Industry, especially since it has been so quiet recently. People always joke about crew having secondary 'muggle' jobs outside the industry, but only now am I realising how essential those jobs really are, but a lot of them require consistency to keep them up alongside the production work. I've put together 5 ways that I am trying to supplement my income, but keen to understand how else I could make this more regular. Open for thoughts below... #sidehustles #filmandtv #filmindustry #Budgeting #artdept
at that point it would be easier to get a part time job. running 5 side hustles will take more energy and time.

If your London based there’s lots of hospitality agencies that has no minimum working hours so you can pick and choose your shifts and never have to ask for time off! There’s Brightsparks, host and high society that I know of. And it isn’t like normal hospitality your basically just a runner for food/ bartender/ host etc

After 5 years working in Factual Development I was laid off last month and it’s been a wake up call to how lucky I’ve been the last few years. I hope I don’t have to leave the industry but paying the mortgage is a real stress.

I work as a freelance stylist / stylist assist i think our industries are quite similar lolz :-) it was hard as hell trying to find a part time job that gives me flexibility to essentially not come in when i get booked BUT i have finally found that!!! I work at an ice cream shop lol. The owners realise that working at an ice cream shop isnt anyone’s dream career so theyre super flexible and basically let me request whatever days im on :) being on a zero hour contract helps too! Best of luck x

Have you looked into universal credit?

This is not ideal but you are eligible for universal credit. I would also suggest looking into hospitality. Depending on the area it will be busy until either August or at least October and then again in December.

This is exactly why so many people are exploring e-commerce and online businesses as a backup plan.
