This is copying “A Day In The Life” by The Beatles if anyone has ever noticed. You can sing the lyric “woke up, fell outta bed, dragged a comb across my head” over the piano in this. Also, in “Mr. Blue Sky” they include some heavy breaths after the line “running down the avenue” very much like after the lyric “looking up, I noticed I was late” in “A Day In The Life”. Jeff Lynne also produced the anthology for The Beatles in the mid 90s and said it was his greatest achievement, so it’s no great secret that he loved them.
