My sweet girl Kiki has been having seizures since 2022. She was diagnosed with epilepsy after a cluster seizure landed her in the ER. We’ve been managing it with medication since then, and for a while it felt like things were under control. But this year, the seizures have become more frequent again. She’s had four, and one of them sent us back to the emergency room. At her last vet visit, they told us something I’ve been terrified to hear: her symptoms now point to a possible brain tumor. We’ve been referred to a neurologist so she can get a CT scan and begin treatment, but the cost just to get a diagnosis is incredibly high. The CT scan alone is around $5,000, and with everything else, the total is over $10,000 and that’s before any treatment even begins. Kiki is only seven. She is the sweetest, gentlest girl. She has been by my side through so much life, always offering comfort, joy, and love to everyone around her. She’s not just a pet; she’s my family. She’s my heart.
