@drjudithjoseph: People from different generations have different views on Fatherhood because their decisions were shaped from different lived experiences a🕰️ 👴🏾Older Boomers worked to have the American Dream and they were in an age of consumption after the w@r which focused on boosting the economy and producing. This stemmed from their parents who went through w@r and economic uncertainty. Survival through offspring was prioritized especially in communities that faced challenges. Men traditionally were not involved in childrearing as society praised men as breadwinners and created more career opportunities for men to become leaders at home and at work. 💼Gen X was more into materialistic accumulation and competitive status. Gender roles were challenged and women began to enter the workforce in traditionally male industries. Marketing towards the working woman became more prominent and women wanted to have it all and men became more open to sharing the burden of being breadwinners. However it was still more difficult for women to lead than for men to lead and pay discrepancies were the norm. 👨🏽‍💻Millennials grew up in the age of internet knowledge so they search for a better life and meaning. They seek knowledge on how to heal and process trauma. Economy crashes and corporate greed led to high student loan debt. Access to more information on child psychology and development made them more worried about if they were raising resilient children. This may have contributed to more balance in Roles in mothers and fathers. It became more acceptable for men to be stay at home dads. 🤳Gen Z grew up in the age of social media where they can find any community they want. They connect in a digital age as digital natives and are skeptical about having a family. They are outspoken about their mental health and deliberate about their choices to value their chosen community over their duty to fit a mold. Men are more open to having equality in every way including paying for things. *This video is not representing every single individual perspective.
