Here is what changed everything: I stopped using Claude as a tool I pick up. I started building Claude as a system that runs. Here is the exact difference: Single prompt approach: You open Claude. You describe your situation. You ask your question. You get an answer. You close Claude. Tomorrow you do it again from scratch. Workflow approach: Claude already knows your business, your voice, your goals, and your standards before you type a single word. Every output builds on the last. The system improves over time. You show up to review results not to start over. Here is how to build your first Claude workflow in three steps: Step 1 — Build your foundation prompt. This lives in a Claude Project as your permanent context. It contains everything Claude needs to know about you — your business, your audience, your voice, your goals, your standards, and what good output looks like for you specifically. Paste this into your Project instructions right now: “You are my dedicated AI system. Here is everything you need to know before every session: My business: [describe what you do] My audience: [describe who you serve] My voice: [describe how you communicate formal, direct, conversational] My standards: [describe what good work looks like for you] My goals: [describe what you are building toward] My non-negotiables: [describe what you never want Claude to do or say] Read this before every response. Never make me repeat it.” Step 2 — Build your process chain. A chain is three prompts that feed into each other. The output of Prompt 1 becomes the input of Prompt 2. The output of Prompt 2 becomes the input of Prompt 3. Example chain for content creators: Prompt 1 — Research: “Analyse this topic and give me the five angles my audience hasn’t seen yet: [topic]” Prompt 2 — Structure: “Take angle number [X] and build a full content structure — hook, three key points, and call to action. Use my voice.” Prompt 3 — Execute: “Write the full piece using that structure. Match my voice exactly. Stop when it is done. Do not summarise what you did.” Step 3 — Build your quality gate. At the end of every chain add this prompt: “Before you give me the final output — run a quality audit against my standards. Tell me: Does this sound like me? Does it deliver what my audience actually needs? What would make it 10 percent better? Make those improvements. Then give me the final version.” That quality gate means Claude checks its own work before you see it. You are not prompting anymore. You are running a system. The people who build these systems in the next 90 days will have a capability that takes everyone else years to develop manually.
