Natasha looked up at the sound and quickly crawled closer. Lena turned the phone toward her daughter. "Come on, sweetheart. Mama's waiting" Natasha's face lit up instantly. "Mama!" Miu smiled but didn't say anything else. She just stared at them with that familiar warmth in her eyes. Natasha pointed excitedly at the phone. "Mama pwetty." Lena smiled, even as her eyes started to burn. "Y-yeah," she whispered. "Mama is very pretty." On the screen, Miu walked away again and returned a moment later holding up a stuffed bunny. She waved it toward the camera with a bright smile. "This is for my baby girl. I hope you'll like it" Natasha immediately raised the identical bunny in her own hands. "Mr. Bunny! I have one too, Mama!" Miu didn't respond. She simply walked away again. A few moments later, another person stepped into the frame carrying a box. "Lena, can you check if the camera is recording? It's blinking red, but I don't know if it's started." "It's recording," Lena's voice answered from behind the camera. "Why are you recording anyway?" Miu laughed. "Well, I want our daughter to see how strong her mom is. You're carrying three boxes." Lena laughed softly through the speaker. "Miu, you should be sitting down, not moving around." Then the video ended there. The same place it always ended. Lena pressed her shaking thumb against the screen before replaying it. Again. And again. As if maybe this time the video would continue. As if maybe this time Miu would say something different. As if maybe this time she would somehow come back. Natasha leaned against Lena's side, hugging her bunny. "Mama home soon?" Lena swallowed hard. Her chest tightened painfully. "Not today, baby." Natasha frowned but nodded. She was still too young to understand. "Excuse me, ma'am." Lena looked up. A security guard stood nearby with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we're closing for the day. You can come back tomorrow." Lena nodded. "Of course." She slipped her phone into her pocket and stood up. Only then did the polished headstone behind them come into view. Miu Schuett. Beloved Wife. Loving Mother. Lena held out her hand to Natasha. "Come on, sweetheart. Say goodbye to Mama." Natasha looked up at Lena for a second before following her gaze toward the sky. She didn't really understand why Mama was always up there or why they came here to talk to her instead of going home together. But Mama Lena always asked her to wave, so she did. Natasha lifted her small hand and waved enthusiastically at the sky. "Bye-bye, Mama!" Lena's smile trembled as she watched her daughter. "Good girl," she whispered, brushing a hand gently over Natasha's hair. As they walked away hand in hand, Lena looked back one last time. Just one more minute.
