If a cop tells you to stop recording what you should do is back up to the legally required distance and keep recording. Whats the legally required distance? Depends on the state. Some states now have 25 feet rules so if thats the case then stay outside the 25 feet but if theres no specification then you should probably get back enough to be outside of the range of obstruction which 25 feet is pretty reasonable for
