@headintheoffice: People despise these AI data center developments, yet many Democrats are fully in bed with the corporations pushing for them. We do not need more capitulations to the center, we need bold action that opposes money in politics. #democrats #artificialintelligence #datacenter #leftist

Waiting for Ted Lieu in an incredibly blue, coastal district to support a data center moratorium. Lots of Spacex/Tesla employees live here. They’re fr planning to spend their IPO money on homes in the extra wealthy areas of the South Bay. I’m so tired of prices raising artificially due to the exponential wealth in CA-36

Man I just want to be off this rollercoaster. It's either hellish nosedives in our quality of life, or it's a meandering process through milquetoast progress that never really solves anything major. I'm so disillusioned by the political process it's insane. I'm still voting just to TRY and help, but I'm not getting my hopes up

Incorrect. It was always about getting people into office. Leftists and progressives have only recently started winning primaries and general elections in significant numbers. If they had been doing that consistently for an extended period of time, rather than this being a relatively recent development, you would have seen the Democratic Party move further left years ago.
Don’t believe me? Look at the Republican Party and how it changed from the era of George W. Bush to that of Donald Trump. As the party’s base and elected officials changed, the party itself changed with them. The same principle applies to Democrats.

From my perspective most of the moderates and neo-liberal politicians can only speak to a few constituencies across the entire patchwork of the democratic coalition. To offset this, they then align themselves with special interests in order to get the funding necessary to purchase ad-space rather than speaking directly to the various communities. Instead of expanding their understanding of the various issues and ways of communicating each group possesses it’s easier for them to cozy up to corporations, super pacs and those in attendance at wine dens.

Maybe 🤔 the whole electoral process should not allow any corporate or individuals funding - what if public funds only were used? Well, didn’t think this through… but what electoral reforms would produce a strong participatory democracy?
