You technically have 128gb of storage when you wipe it clean and use the nand flash as it is. Windows and unix report storage size differently as well, one uses dec and another uses bin

Storage has always been advertised in Raw Capacity, even computers have had this issue after formatting a drive, then adding an OS on it. So not a new argument, Honestly I say they need to Say "128GB Raw Capacity, 93GB usable."

it's not like a statue, it's more like some square footage being taken up by a refrigerator, kitchen and bathroom. You wouldn't want to live in a house without those things. And likewise the phone would be useless without an operating system. They can't advertise free space because then that binds them to a given amount of space that they may not be able to guarantee. It changes over time with updates and usage.
